As an active member of the APWA Washington Chapter since 2012, I have had the opportunity to participate on the Division 1 Construction Specifications Committee and serve as a Washington Chapter Board member from 2022 – 2023. I was honored that while serving on the Mentorship Committee in 2024, we received the “Committee in Action” award.
While working on my bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (a quirky, regional school in Central Massachusetts), I enjoyed playing varsity basketball, discovered that field hockey is a real sport, and learned how to cheer for a perpetual underdog of a football team. It was good practice since I married a die-hard Coug and we root for WSU most Saturdays in the fall.
I have been involved with public works since graduating in 2007, primarily as a consultant for transportation engineering projects. Over the years, I have seen APWA bring enormous value to our industry through training, mentorship, advocacy, and the sharing of resources and ideas. Personally, I have learned so much through CAEC training and committee work, been encouraged and inspired by conference speakers, and been motivated to continue to grow by the hard work and professionalism that surrounds us at chapter events.
If elected, I will work to improve understanding and communication between public agencies and consultant project managers. I believe that the more we understand each other’s priorities, operations, goals, and challenges, the more satisfied we will be with our work and our projects, and the more successful we will become.
