Each year during the Fall Conference, the Chapter recognizes individual excellence in Public Works.  The awards are presented on Thursday night with a banquet featuring entertainment and acceptance speeches.

Six Individual Awards Include:

Outstanding Service Award
In Honor of James Robertson
Recognizes outstanding service to the Chapter.

Inclusion Advocate Award
In Honor of June Rosentreter Spence
Recognizes efforts to recruit individuals into Public Works, including those members and organizations, or programs, who recognize and are active in helping women, minorities & people with disabilities, pursue careers in the public works field.

Chapter Pillar Award
In Honor of Richard (Dick) G. Andrews
Recognizes an individual who exemplifies Dick’s qualities of leadership, mentoring, encouragement, and serving behind the scenes without seeking recognition for him/herself as selected by the Board. Dick was a long time Washington State Chapter member, Board Member, and 2002 President. He died on October 1, 2014 after losing a hard-fought battle with an aggressive cancer.

Young Leader Award
Recognizes and encourages young Public Works leaders who demonstrate commitment to the Public Works profession and show potential for future growth with APWA. The winner of this award receives scholarship to attend the National Congress. Their application may be forwarded by the Chapter President to National as a nominee for the Young Leader Award.

The President’s Award
Recognizes a current Officer or Board Member for chapter contributions.

Roy Morse Award
In Honor of Roy Morse
Recognizes outstanding technical or professional accomplishments in Public Works. The winner of this award may be forwarded by the Chapter President to National as a nominee for the National Top 10 Public Works Leaders of the Year Award.

Three Group Awards Include:

The Committee in Action Award

Recognizes a chapter committee that has provided/is providing exceptional value to the membership and/or the public works profession in Washington.

Empowering Teams Award

Recognizes teams making advancements in the Public Works Industry that allows the industry as a whole to make significant progress in harnessing new technologies, processes or materials to accomplish Public Works’ tasks more efficiently.

Chapter Heroes                                                         
For either individuals or groups, this award recognizes outstanding service to the community in Public Works by front line workers. This special recognition award is not given out every year.
