Bio:

I have been working in the Public Works Industry since 2003. I began my career working seasonally for the City of Shoreline while attending Washington State University (Go Cougs!). Upon graduating in 2006 with a BA in Business Administration, I was hired as a full-time Maintenance Technician at the City of Shoreline. I quickly realized how much I loved working in Public Works. I’ve since dedicated my career to Public Works and am proud of the career I’ve built. Over the past 20+ years, I have held several jobs at various agencies throughout Washington State including the City of Shoreline, City of Redmond, Walla Walla County, and my current role as the Public Works Director for the City of College Place. I’ve worked in and overseen Streets, Stormwater, Water, Wastewater, Facilities, Fleet, and Parks. I currently lead all Public Works and Parks divisions at the City of College Place. I have been a Union Vice President, Facilities Lead, Chief of Road Operations and Fleet management, and Public Works Director. I have a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. And, in 2013, I went back to school while continuing to work full-time and received my degree of Master of Public Administration (MPA) in 2015. I love to learn, and pride myself on continuing to better myself, my team, my agency, and the Public Works Industry as much as possible. Over the years I have attended various APWA Conferences and have continued to get more involved each year. My network has grown exponentially since becoming involved with APWA and I have continued to make great friends and connections year after year. In 2023, I began sending members of my team to participate in the APWA ROADeo, and plan to continue sending staff each year moving forward. I recently received my Certificate of Completion for completing the Public Works Institute after attending and completing the Executive Leader Forum in May of 2024. My career path has given me a unique perspective on Public Works, as I have worked for both counties and cities of various sizes in both Western and Eastern Washington. I have held several roles within Public Works from Seasonal Worker, to Maintenance Technician, to Public Works Director, and many positions in between. I frequently work very closely with consultants, contractors, and vendors and have built a strong network. I enjoy making connections and believe I can relate to members of our industry across the various sectors. I am honored for the opportunity to be considered for the APWA Board.
