Bio:

I appreciate the opportunity to be considered for a Board Member for the APWA Washington Chapter.  I have been actively involved in the Washington Chapter of APWA for more than 10 years.  I currently serve on the APWA Apprenticeship Committee.  I am passionate about networking, training, and career building opportunities offered by the APWA Washington Chapter.  I’ve presented at APWA conferences and have supported my staff to present and share their knowledge and experiences with our Public Works community. I have been in Civil Engineering for 33 years and in my 31st year in Public Service at Snohomish County. I am passionate about the work we do to maintain and improve transportation facilities for our residents and businesses while encouraging and developing staff.  I graduated from Everett Community College with an Associate degree and entered the workforce as a technician.  As I worked my way up in the organization, I also earned my EIT, and PE.  I have experience working in Surface Water Management, Construction Inspection and Management, Civil Engineering Design, Emergency Management and the management of people. Currently I serve as the Design Manager for Snohomish County Public Works Engineering Services delivering road and bridge projects.  My diverse career has allowed me to view public works from many perspectives. If elected, my first goal would be to support the great work of APWA.  This would include nurturing the health of the organization by recruiting and inviting participation, continuing the sharing of innovation in Public Works , telling the story of the great work that Public Works teams  are doing every day, and continue to increase awareness of Public Works as a career and how we serve our communities and make them a better place to live, work and play. I look forward to continuing to serve as an APWA member and Public Works employee and appreciate your consideration.
