Short Description: Under general direction and limited supervision of the Assistant Airport Manager and Maintenance Lead; performs technical work in the mechanical and custodial operation of the Yakima Air Terminal and the surrounding City/Airport property assure all aspects of airfield maintenance are upheld to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and Yakima Air Terminal (YAT) standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the performance, operation, maintenance and repairs of electrical equipment, cooling and heating equipment, restroom facilities, and landscaped areas. Performs mandated security checks including but not limited to perimeter inspections at least twice daily.

This position is scheduled to work Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
MINIMUM CLASS REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years related experience and/or training in heavy equipment operations and/or mechanical maintenance. Experience in an airport, aviation or airfield environment is preferred.
Must successfully pass criminal background check; employment history verification and obtain and maintain a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge. Must obtain and maintain an airport movement area drivers permit within 30 days from date of hire.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license. Must be trained and certified annually as applicable in Airport Certification Manual (ACM) as required by Federal Aviation Administration.

The pay range listed for this position is establish through the City of Yakima’s Master Pay Ordinance in accordance with the Municipal Code and/or the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
