Bio:

I have been an active member of the APWA since 2018 and feel privileged to be part of such a great organization. It would be an honor to serve on the Chapter’s Board of Directors, should I be elected. One of the most meaningful experiences in my life has been coaching my children in wrestling as they grew up. From their early years through their school careers, I had the opportunity to coach at various levels, culminating in serving as a high school head wrestling coach for two years. Coaching youth sports gave me the chance to teach young athletes the value of hard work, perseverance, and achieving goals they may not have believed possible. This experience shaped my leadership style and has helped me guide the people I work with to recognize their value within an organization and strive toward success. Professionally, my background includes civil construction, aviation, and 16 years at a utility company before taking on my current role with the City of Spokane. During my time in civil construction, I was responsible for managing large crews across expansive project sites and overseeing substantial budgets tied to complex infrastructure development. That experience gave me a strong foundation in team leadership, resource management, and problem-solving on a large scale. Currently, I serve as the Director overseeing year-round operations and maintenance for the Street Department. In this position, I am responsible for leading a dedicated team of professionals, managing operational budgets, and ensuring the effective delivery of essential public services across all seasons. It has been a rewarding experience to serve under various administrations and to contribute meaningfully to the safety and functionality of our city’s infrastructure. Working collaboratively with departments and stakeholders citywide has strengthened my understanding of the diverse needs that must be considered when making decisions that directly impact public safety and community well-being.
