About the POY Awards
Each year during the Spring Conference APWA WA honors the best of the best in Public Works with the Project of the Year Awards. The awards are typically presented on Thursday night at the APWA WA Spring Conference with a banquet featuring entertainment and acceptance speeches.
The Project of the Year recognizes excellence in management and administration of successfully completed Public Works projects. Awards fall into five categories, with dollar volume differentials (Less than $5M, <$25M, $25M – $75M, and >$75) within each category:

New – Sustainability Award!
A new Sustainability award has been added to the Project of the Year Awards! The APWA Public Works Sustainability Project of the Year Award was established to promote excellence in the management, administration and implementation of sustainable goals and practices in the delivery of public works projects.
All projects of any size or category may submit for the Sustainability Award with or without entering the other Project of the Year categories. A separate submission form is required for this award.

Submission Instructions:
To submit for a Project of the Year Award and/or Sustainability Award, please submit the following documents via Dropbox upload (click the green button):
1) Project Nomination Form (Live PDF, Do not Scan)
2) Supporting Documentation (PDF or Doc)
3) Photo Worksheet (Live PDF) and up to 10 loose /nonembedded images (Please note that the photos will be used in promotions and are not part of the judged submission.)
Tips on Uploading:
Some organizations have had difficulty accessing the Dropbox upload portal as their firewalls block the upload. We recommend getting your consultant to upload for you if this is the case. If you’d like to test ahead of time, upload a document labeled “Test”. The Dropbox owner will say “Juel Lugo”, you will get an email saying that your documents have been uploaded. If you need to check on if your upload was completed email: apwa.washington@gmail.com. Should you need to replace a document, make sure and label your new document “NEW” at the end of the file name.
Submitting to National:
This application process is for the APWA Washington Chapter. Our criteria mirrors APWA National so you are able to submit your application to National with no additional work. For due dates and more information, see more information here.
