Short Description:
Within the Asset Performance Management Team, this role serves as a planning program lead to deliver the Public Works Strategic Asset Management Plan.
Connects asset level lifecycle management to service level outcomes by developing specific asset management plans for Public Works’ most critical asset classes including water, stormwater, wastewater, and transportation systems. This role develops policies, business processes, and coordinating efforts to advance asset management initiatives.
Responsible and accountable for activities related to development, evaluation, amendment, and implementation of program criteria, policies and management plans, defining scope of projects, conducting technical research and studies, collecting and analyzing data, evaluating and formulating options and solutions in relation to operational directives, preparing staff reports, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
Project management, including such things as, defining scope of work and consultant selection, steering and refining project design, refining project plans and specifications, managing project implementation.
Prepares technical reports on zoning and municipal code updates, functional plans, master plans, and technical studies that impact utilities and mobility infrastructure managed by Public Works.
Coordinates and communicates with internal departments and external agencies, the City Council, and members of boards and commissions.
Coordinates and participates in public outreach meetings for assigned Public Works programs and projects, collaborating with various internal teams

Public Works is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Asset Performance Management (APM) Team as a Senior Planner. The Senior Planner enables asset management within the Public Works Department by writing and maintaining asset management and infrastructure system plans for our Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, and Transportation systems. These plans support asset lifecycle management by providing staff with actionable information to monitor asset performance, condition, and funding needs to plan capital projects and operations and maintenance budgets.
As a member of the APM Team, you will work across functional areas in our Utilities (water, stormwater, wastewater), Mobility (streets, bridges, intelligent transportation system), and Infrastructure (capital planning and project management office) Divisions to deliver initiatives that maximize infrastructure’s value to the community.
Note: This is an in-person role with the potential for partial hybrid flexibility available after completing 6-months employment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business management, urban planning or development, environmental science, natural resources management, transportation, public policy, or related discipline.
Four years of professional Planning or Project Management experience in the above fields.
Equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Master’s degree preferred.
Licenses and Certificates
Project Management Professional (PMP) or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) credentials strongly preferred.
